LSP Performace Resins - Introduction

Welcome to LSP Performance Resins

Seamless Technologies has been absorbed into its parent company, Life Science Products Inc. and now trades as LSP Performance resins. All of the flooring and coatings that were available as Seamless Technologies are still available under the new ownership; only the name has changed. The original nomenclature remains as well. For example SeamTek Type™ 1 is still SeamTek™ Type 1. The standard offerings are listed below. Click here to go directly to the data for SeamTek™ products.

LSP SeamTek™ Floor Options

Type 1

Type 1 is a no-VOC no-HAP vinyl ester flooring system that sets the standard for LEED compliant flooring systems. It is a composite system that is set on a fiberglass mat and is designed with a matrix resin that will withstand temperatures greater than 360 degrees F without distortion. It is UV cured which means an immediate cure time resulting in faster turn-around-times and enhanced chemical resistance and will not amber by UV exposure. It’s primary application is in intense rodent housing conditions and areas with high service abuse. It is primarily recommended for use in dry housing.

Type 2

Type 2 is also a no-VOC and no-HAP system. It is identical in every way to Type 1 with the exception that Type 2 does not incorporate a fiberglass mat. Type 2 offers a less expensive alternate than type 1 in less intense areas such as corridors, labs, locker rooms.

Type 3

Type 3 is a LEED compliant decorative epoxy quartz broadcast flooring system installed at a thickness of 3/16”. It will withstand thermal abuse found in cage wash areas (approximately 180 degrees F) and the kind of abuse normally seen in animal housing facilities. Both the thermal and chemical resistance features are a step below Types 1 or 2 but are superior among epoxy formulations.  It is recommended for all areas of the animal facility and support areas as well a manufacturing.

Type 4

Type 4 is a LEED compliant decorative epoxy quartz flooring system identical to Type 3 but installed at 1/8” thick; chemical resistance is the same as Type 3. Because of the thickness it is not recommended for cage wash areas or activities that operate at elevated temperatures but can otherwise be used in all areas of the animal facility.

Type 5

Type 5 is a LEED compliant decorative flake epoxy flooring system, similar in appearance to Types 1 and 2 vinyl esters. It has excellent epoxy chemical resistance and presents an excellent aesthetic alternative to the standard quartz look. It can be used in all areas of the animal facility and support areas. It is mostly recommended for dry areas without thermal  abuse.

Type 6

Type 6 is a pigmented industrial epoxy floor that used silica quartz as the aggregate. It is installed at 1/8” thick and therefore is not recommended in areas having thermal abuse. Although it is sealed with a pigmented chemical resistant resin it may stain or show pigment leach when exposed to certain chemicals. It is ideal for storage, warehousing and industrial use but can also be used as flooring in animal research facilities and support areas.

Type 7

Type 7 is a pigmented industrial epoxy mortar system recommended for areas where the existing concrete is rough and spalled. Installed at ¼” thick it can be used to substrate imperfections and to level or slope existing slabs. Without the pigmented seal coat, the mortar serves as the base system for SeamTek™ Slope and Fill system  used under more decorative systems described above. As with Type 6, Type 7 is sealed with a chemical resistant resin that may still stain or pigment leach when exposed to certain chemicals.

Type 8

Type 8 is a no-VOC no-HAP vinyl ester flooring system that sets the standard for LEED compliant flooring systems. It is a quartz system that is designed with a matrix resin that will withstand temperatures greater than 360 degrees F without distortion and is installed at 1/8” thickness. It is UV cured which means an immediate cure time resulting in faster turn-around-times and enhanced chemical resistance and will not amber by UV exposure. It is recommended specifically for use in thermal abuse areas and for chemical resistance. As such it is recommended for any area in the animal facility or support areas as well as manufacturing and production.

Type 9

Type 9 incorporates the thermal features of Type 8, low thermal sensitivity matrix, in a quartz format but it sealed with a clear chemical resistant resin. It is an excellent alternative for those who require an extremely durable system but prefer epoxy.  It is recommended specifically for use in thermal abuse areas and for chemical resistance although it is a step below Type 8 in that respect.. As such it is recommended for any area in the animal facility or support areas as well as manufacturing and production.

LSP SeamTek™ Wall Options

SeamTek™ Glasswall NR

SeamTek™ Glasswall is a 100% solids high build epoxy coating system. It is installed at a DFT of 12- 14 mils; it has a gloss finish and excellent abrasion resistance. It is recommended as the wall coating in animal facilities, manufacturing, laboratories and support areas. It can be installed directly over new or old drywall or other smooth surfaces with one coat of epoxy primer. It is also recommended over rough hard board and new or used CMU after proper preparation.

SeamTek™ Glasswall FR

Glasswall FR incorporates a fiberglass mat as the base over the substrate then adds two coats of the 100% solids high build epoxy coating system described above on top of the fiberglass. The system is about 32 mils thick and serves to add structural stability to the substrate and to reduce the effect of impact on drywall. The system is highly durable with a gloss finish and has excellent chemical resistance. The fiberglass system requires a smooth substrate for installation and if installed over certain hardboards or CMU, the substrate must be parged smooth prior to installing FR.

SeamTek™ Ure-Glaze NR

Ure-Glaze is a 100% solids Urethane resin system that is applied over an epoxy primer. As with the epoxy system It is installed at a DFT of 12- 14 mils; it has a higher gloss finish and higher abrasion resistance. It is recommended as the wall coating in animal facilities, manufacturing, laboratories and support areas. It can be installed directly over new or old drywall or other smooth surfaces with one coat of epoxy primer. It is also recommended over rough hard board and new or used CMU after proper preparation.

SeamTek™ Ure-Glaze FR

Ure-Glaze FR incorporates a fiberglass mat as the base over the substrate then adds two coats of the 100% solids high build urethane coating system on top of the fiberglass.

SeamTek™ Glasswall TQ

SeamTek™ TQ is a decorative quartz toweled mortar system applied to the wall at a nominal 1/8” thickness applied from the floor up to any wall height including to the ceiling. It has excellent wear properties and is highly recommended for primate housing including group housed rooms, spray down cubicles dog and cat runs and high impact areas. It provides a decorative chemical resistant gloss finish and can be used as a parge and the finish on rough wall in a single system application.
