The standard for ceiling finishes in biomedical research for years, epoxy coatings are dense, easy to clean, have good light reflectivity and for the most part are durable. Epoxy coatings are generally installed over gyp board but can be installed over many different substrates if necessary. They represent an effective and economical means of achieving a seamless coating surface for the interior finish in animal holding, surgical suites andareas strict disinfecting and cleaning protocols that may require chemical resistant finishes.
We offer 100% solids epoxy coatings for ceilings as well as the newer technology of 100% solids urethane coatings. In our Tech Support Section they are listed as Glasswall NR (epoxy coating) and Ureglaze NR (urethane coating) respectively.
While coated gyp board is the most economical finish for ceilings it does have limitations. Gyp board ceilings have limited access to the interstitial space and the access points that are provided are small doors fit only for slender people. Repeated entry causes breaks in the gyp board itself and it interrupts the seamless coating. This damage requires repair in order to continue to operate within codes. Further, gyp board in moisture sensitive and subject to water damage. Even if the water damage is minor the seamless epoxy coatings can peal require repair. Repainting and recoating can be costly.
